Quarantine Snacking

Hey everyone!

I wanted to start sharing some of my favorite quick and easy snack recipes. Being in quarantine I’ve had the chance to experiment and I’ve found that snacking more throughout the day makes me feel better! For those who don’t know me very well yet, I have always struggled with my health. The last 8 months or so I have developed frequent dizzy spells and with that comes nausea, fatigue and tingling. I knew I had to change something in my life... my body was not having it! I started with my diet. I stopped eating out- crazy I know. It was tough at first but now I totally have the hang of it. Next, I became conscious of the ingredients I was putting in my body. In addition to being gluten free for 10 years, I knew I needed to do better. I’m not saying I’m eating completely chemical free or preservative free, but I do notice a difference when I put clean and natural foods in my body.

Okay okay... on to the snacking!

A common ingredient I’ve found myself using is cinnamon sugar. I use the McCormick’s brand and like it a lot! I wasn’t always a fan of eating fruit (guilty) but sprinkle a little of that and it makes for a healthy and sweet snack. I’ve started coming up with yummy easy bowls for a midday snack. One thing you won’t find much of me doing is exact measuring... I pretty much eyeball everything so just add as much or as little as you want!

Here are a few variations of my Snack Bowls.

- Just some Almonds!

My favorite is to drizzle a LITTLE olive oil to coat the almonds. Toss in a couple blueberries then sprinkle cinnamon sugar over it enough to coat.

- Strawberry Bowl

Cut up a handful of Strawberries. Toss in some Almonds. ( I use Trader Joe’s individually packed almonds )

Slice a whole banana. Sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar and drizzle a little bit of honey.

- Granola Bowl

Take your favorite granola- I’ve been going back and forth lately on different kinds

1. Trader Joe’s Cranberry Maple Nut.

2. Pumpkin Spice granola by Purely Elizabeth (I found it on Thrive Market)

Add small handful of milk chocolate chips (or dark chocolate)

Toss in a handful of your favorite fruit! I like to add blueberries or raspberries.

Top it with coconut flakes

-Hummus Bowl

Pick your favorite hummus- I like a plain hummus because I add Everything But The Bagel Seasoning on top. ( I get mine from Trader Joe's)

Add a couple carrot sticks and grab your favorite crackers.

I recently discovered Avocado Chips by Hippie Snacks. (Ordered from Thrive Market) They are my go-to for snacking currently.

-The Sweet Tooth Bowl

Toss your favorite fruit in a bowl. (My favorite for this bowl is raspberries.)

Add a handful of chocolate chips

Lastly, add a scoop of Cool Whip.

For me, this is the perfect bowl to help your craving while not binging on the unhealthy options.
